What is Keto fast or Strict Keto?

We do not believe in excluding entire food groups from your diet. For this reason, we allowed for the inclusion of healthy, well-portioned meals which contain a healthy balance of macro nutrients.

Our keto fast (LC & IF) packages incorporate intermittent fasting (IF) and low-carb (LC) meals to fast track your weight loss journey! On these packages, you can expect to cycle between fasting periods and eating periods. We have chosen the 16:8 method, which means you will be fasting for 16 hours (don’t worry, you should be asleep for at least half of that)! For the remaining 8 hours, we have put together a well-balanced combination of meals and snacks to keep you fully satisfied throughout the day while you are on your weight loss journey.

Our strict keto (LCHF) packages are a little different from the keto fast packages, in that they are low carb (LC) and high fat (HF), following more of a ketogenic diet. Drastically reducing your carbohydrate intake will put your body into a metabolic state called ketosis, which allows your body to use fat as fuel instead of carbs. During ketosis, your body becomes incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy, which makes the strict keto meal plan an effective way to lose weight. These packages do not incorporate any type of fasting.

Low carb (LC) packages are available individually, which are perfect for anyone looking to take their health into their own hands. These packages offer you the opportunity to stick to a low carb lifestyle, without any need to ever prep, cook, or clean. The perfect solution for all healthy lifestyle and weight loss needs.

Combining our low-carb meals with intermittent fasting, our ketofast packages do not follow a strict ketogenic diet (high fat, low carbohydrate). We do not believe in excluding entire food groups from your diet. For this very reason, we have healthy, well-portioned meals in our eating plans with well balanced macros.

What is Ketosis?

The term “keto” in the word ketosis comes from “ketones”, the name of small fuel molecules in the body. This is an alternative fuel for the body, produced from fat we eat, and used when blood sugar (glucose) is in short supply. These ketones are produced when you eat very few carbs (the main source of blood sugar) and only moderate amounts of protein (excess protein is converted to blood sugar).

Under these circumstances, fat is converted in the liver to ketones that then enter the blood stream. They are then used as fuel by cells in the body, just like glucose. They can even be used by the brain. This is extra important, as the brain cannot be directly fuelled by fat, and it’s a very hungry organ.

Maximizing Fat Burning

One way to enter the state of ketosis is to eat a ketogenic diet. On our Keto Fast Diet Plan, the bodies reserve of glucose starts to run out, your entire body switches its fuel supply on fat. The levels of the fat storing hormone insulin levels become very low, and fat burning increases dramatically. When the body produces enough ketones to measure significant levels in the blood (usually over 0.5 mm) it’s said to be in ketosis.

A strictly low-carb or “keto” diet, can be eaten for any amount of time. It also results in ketosis. It achieves many of the benefits of fasting – like weight loss – without having to fast. If you’re following a Low-carb or Keto diet then you may have experienced symptoms such as dehydration or constipation. Please remember, water makes up more than 50% of your body and is simply needed for survival. When we drastically restrict carbs, this leads to the body shedding water weight rapidly & is why dehydration is the most common side effect of a ketogenic diet that you will likely experience in the first few weeks.
