Studies show that carbohydrates are part of the body’s preferred fuel for your brain and muscles, as well as vital organs like the kidneys. Without them, our bodies start to crave energy, which is why we find ourselves snacking on a chocolate or two.

If we don’t get enough carbohydrates and our bodies don’t get the energy they need, our bodies will start getting this energy that we need from elsewhere, breaking down fat and protein instead. Portion control is important

Although we need carbs for fuel, to prevent sugar cravings and certain disease, we often eat way too much of them. A serving or two is all we need! portion size matters.

Its super important to ignore as many condiments and side sauces as possible! When it comes to carbs, its super easy to add extra’s, however, this takes your carb conscious meal into a not-so-carb conscious meal! Sides, sauces, and extra’s are the parts we need to watch out for the most.

Choose the right carbs

It’s important to recognise that not all carbs are equal. Its most important to ensure you are choosing the right carbs! There are good carbs, and there are BAD carbs. These bad carbs stress your body, trigger cortisol, and increase inflammation which makes fat loss harder, and weight gain easier. These carbs don’t provide the nutrients you need to keep your metabolism running the way it should be, they don’t fill you up, and they end up making you crave more food! BAD CARBS!
